We are happy you're here. Our Members come from 26 states (so far!), Portugal, Canada and Australia. Our tagline is "Boston and Beyond, a Fiber Arts Community"!
The Membership includes beginners, advanced, experts, and all levels in between.
We share a curiosity of all things knit, crochet and fiber. We provide a variety of programs and events to satisfy the curious. Together we learn, we teach, we pass the craft down through the next generation and find inspiration. Our Guild brings the world of making, design, and fiber to our Membership.
GBKG's active Community Outreach program serves the Greater Boston Community providing thousands of handmade items to those in need. These items are collected all year long for distribution in the Fall.
Gather your yarn, grab your needles, and join us at any of our events for a smile, a new friend, and a spark of inspiration. It’s nice to be with people who understand why your stash is so large or your number of works in progress is what it is!
Looking forward to a very busy 2024-2025 at the Greater Boston Knitting Guild with you.

Our
Story
The Greater Boston Knitting Guild (GBKG) is recognized as a philanthropic force in the Greater Boston community. It's in our mission statement and in our genes. We put our needles to work for others as well as ourselves. We partner with The Knitting Connection, The Newborn Baby Unit at Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Women's Lunch Place and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.
The items are collected all year long and in November, they are distributed to those in need as the weather turns cold and stormy. GBKG has designated October as a "Knitting for Good Month" to make a final push for warm items!
Every item counts. From simple to fancy, it doesn't matter. It just means your warm heart will reach out to warm a grateful stranger. Finish a project? After you submit a picture to Show & Tell, use the left over yarn to make a hat or headband or scarf. We all have collected stash in our fiber journey. Why not put it to good use?
And this is how you contribute:
We have 3 yarn stores who accept the hats, scarfs, shawls, cowls, headbands, etc. as well as baby items for donations. The Greater Boston Knitting Guild (GBKG) then will take care of the distribution into the community.
Another Yarn, 5 Cambridge St (across from the Escadrille Cafe), Burlington, MA 781-570-2134
Stitch House, 846 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester, MA 02125, 617-265-8013
Plymouth Harbor Knits, 170 Water St. Plymouth, MA 02360, 774-283-4704
*Donations will also be accepted at our September 19 meeting
Help us make this year's "Knitting for Good Month" a huge success. The need never stops. Every head deserves to be warm when winter arrives, so warm your heart and know your work makes a difference!

Knitting for Good
Connections
Since 1993, GBKG members have been putting our needles and crochet hooks to work for others. You can help by making prayer shawls, hats, cowls, scarfs, gloves and mittens. Shawls for both men and women are donated to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Infant items are donated to the Newborn Baby Unit and Boston Medical Center.
Items sized for children through adults are distributed through The Knitting Connection serving Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We also donate items to the Women’s Lunch Place in Boston and the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition.
Every head deserves a hat. We believe “It’s knitting for GOOD”.
